MAWP designed and installed the energy efficient geothermal HVAC system for a new 2,500 SQFT home built in Manhattan, KS.
The air conditioning system consists of (1) Carrier Infinity geothermal heat pump. The ducted system has (3) zones and An Energy Recovery Ventilator to supply the house with fresh air while recovering the energy from the stale exhaust air.
The hydronic heating system has 5 separate zones and consists of (1) Carrier geothermal water-to-water heat pump (1) 80 gallon buffer tank, (1) high-efficiency Taco circulator with ECM motor, (8) Taco zone sentry zone valves and (2) Taco zone valve controllers, (1) Tekmar controller
A Navien combination high-efficiency condensing boiler was chosen to provide domestic hot water and a backup heat source for the hydronic system.
The garage is served by a separate Air Handler fed by the water-to-water heat pump with cooling and heating capabilities.
A zone was added to the hydronic system to allow for future connection to a pool heat exchanger.
The domestic hot water is preheated by the geothermal heat pump during cooling loads and also by the water-to-water heat pump system during the heating loads.
