5,625 SQFT Private Residence โ€“ Zoned Radiant Heat & Air Conditioning

MAWP designed and installed a hydronic radiant heating system & zoned air conditioning for a new 5,625 SQFT home built in Manhattan, KS. The radiant heating and AC was designed with four separate zones. Three zones serve the main floor (Living Room, Master Suite, Guest Suite) and the basement makes up the fourth. Uponor Wirsbo piping was used and joist Trak Heat-Transfer Panels were installed under the main sub floor to assist in the radiant heat transfer and allow lower water temps to be used. A high-efficiency Taco Viridian circulator with an ECM motor was used with Taco zone sentry zone valves and a Taco zone valve controller. A Navien combination high-efficiency condensing boiler was chosen to provide heating water as well as domestic hot water. For the Air Conditioning we choose a Carrier Infinity Variable speed air conditioner system for the upstairs. This system is zoned the same as the radiant heating. It has a variable speed scroll compressor that will ramp down to 40% capacity and provides up to 20.5 SEER & 15.5 EER energy efficiency ratings. A high-efficiency modulating condensing gas furnace was also installed as a backup heat source. The down stairs Air Conditioning consists of a Carrier performance series Air Conditioner with a Two-Stage high-efficiency condensing gas furnace.
